Laneige Sun Block Aqua+ SPF 35 PA++

The last of this lot of Laneige items which I got is the Laneige Sun Block Aqua+ SPF 35 PA++. This is a milk sun block for sensitive skin. The common worry about sun block is that it gets really greasy and sticky. Personally I really hate wearing sun block. It's a necessary evil I guess and I always have hope that there would be one that isn't gross.

I waited for a day when I would go out without makeup... my beloved Saturday. Coz if I wore it under makeup, I would not be able to tell what it truly felt like. It was pretty sunny on Saturday, but not too strong and I wasn't going under direct sun. [FYI: Ultraviolet rays (UV) contains UVA and UVB. UVA causes wrinkles and aging, UVB causes skin cancer] SPF 35 sounds little but it actually isn't, it blocks nearly 97% of the UVB radiation. PA++ provides moderate UVA protection for normal skin exposed to medium UV radiation.

I squeezed out just a little bit, the consistency was very liquid so you don't need much to cover your face. I used about half of what I squeezed out in the picture, applied it all over my face and went on my way. There was nothing else on my face, no toner, no moisturiser, nothing except the sun block. It looked slightly greasy which was not ideal... like my skin was shiney not matte, but I don't expect otherwise from sun block. A few minutes later, I touched my face to check if it was sticky. To my surprise, it wasn't. I could feel like I had a light layer of moisturiser on my face, but it was not too uncomfortable. It smells really nice as well, slightly floral slightly citrusy, and fresh.

It didn't cause any itching or discomfort, nor did I get any pimples from it. Normally I feel that sun block clogs my pores and causes me to break out. I did try during the day to wash my face with water only, to see if it would come off and it didn't. This one washed off with facial cleanser well and didn't cause any pimples.

I would recommend Laneige Sun Block Aqua+ for a daily use but not to go to the beach or pool under too strong sun. It's light enough to wear under makeup. You can get Laneige Sun Block Aqua+ SPF 35 PA++ at Sephora online for SGD$34 here!

Laneige Brush Pact

My 3rd little goodie from Laneige is the Brush Pact and I got it in No. 2 Pore Blur. It looks like a white powder. The Laneige Brush Pact comes in 2 shades on Sephora online. The other shade is No. 1 Natural Finishing, which looks like a light beige. For some reason my face is super fair so I thought it would be the safest bet to get the colourless one. Ok let's get to it!

The Laneige Brush Pact comes in a really cute package. First you twist out the bottom, which contains the powder, then you can twist out the brush on the other half. Very nifty and very easy to pop in the handbag. I'm thinking I might have been a little over amused with this. But it's really good to carry around.

So I wait for the right time, middle of the day, so something like 4 hours into the work day. When my face starts to look greasy. I've never been in the habit of re-applying make up half way through the day for a few reasons: my skin is super sensitive so in my head, if I am to put powder on my face that is not clean, I feel like I'm rubbing the dirt into my face. That generally causes me to have some pimples. So I don't like to re-apply makeup. The other reason is coz I'm a germaphobe so putting the brush on my face which is 4 hours into the day just feels like the dirt is going to fester and reproduce into a colony on the brush.

Ok so 4 hours into the day, I blot my face with some blotter paper... then I whip out my handy Brush Pact. I start applying it all over my face and asked everyone who was around me if my face was still greasy before going to see for myself in the mirror. Lo and behold!!! It works really well and I didn't look like I had another layer of powder plastered on. So bye bye greasy face!

Now for my other concern... will I break out. There are 2 times that I check if I have a break out from makeup. Once when I just get home from work, and once again the next morning. Patiently I awaited. To be honest, every time I try something new, I worry that I will break out.

Verdict the next morning: The coast was clear! I didn't break out. So this is going to be a permanent fixture in my handbag. You can, and you should get this! I got it on Sephora online for SGD$42, link for you to get it is here. You're welcome.

Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar

The shopping doesn't ever end... I had to try the Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar. I first heard about it when my colleague was raving about it. She had seen an advertisement and was going on about wanting to buy it. How could I not try it right?!

As part of my Laneige mini binge shopping spree, I went ahead to Sephora online and picked up the Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar in Maxi Red. There were 4 gorgeous colours to choose from and it was not an easy choice to make. I was torn between Maxi Red and Magenta Muse. All colours except Orange Blurring suited my yellow toned skin so this decision took forever to make.

The 4 colours are:

No.1 Magenta Muse
No.5 Daring Darling
No.12 Maxi Red
No.13 Orange Blurring

First things first, I had to figure out how to work a lipstick the was not that same shape as the lipsticks that I'm used to. Once I began to apply it, I realised that the rectangle shape of the Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar made it really easy to get the clean lip lines, especially the bow of the lip. Love!

There are two colours in the Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar but I feel it's more, coz you can mix the colours depending on the tone you're feeling on that day. Maxi Red is made up of a bright deep red and is paired with peachy orange. You can wear it only red or only peach but where's the fun in that?! So I mixed it till I was satisfied and I got this really interesting red. Under certain lights it looks like chilli red, under the sun it looks reddish orange... and in yellow light it looks like a deep pink. I need to explore more ways to wear this colour. But I know the K-craze now is to wear it a deeper shade in the middle and a lighter shade on the outside, so I did that, looks nice in the photo.

The texture is nice too, it isn't too creamy where you feel your lips are bleeding. I lightly blotted my lips just out of habit... and it felt almost like I wasn't wearing any lipstick at all, so it was comfortable. I didn't have that greasy feeling nor did I have to keep checking if it was in place. It felt light and the colour was opaque and vibrant.

Try the other colours and let me know how that goes! Get your Laneige Two Tone Lip Bars here for SGD$34, Sephora online typically gets the orders to you within a week so it's pretty fuss free.

Laneige Two Tone Shadow Bar

My recent lot of makeup have all come from Sephora's online store. I wanted to check out some Laneige products seeing as to how popular Korean cosmetics have become. I found some interesting products, as usual, tried and tested them myself. I don't ever show up for work without full makeup... ever! So I look for quick, easy fixes that can save time, and is a big plus if it's compact so I can dump it in my bag if I run late.

On the top of my list was the Laneige Two Tone Shadow Bar. There are 4 colour combos to choose from:
No. 1 [Humming Coral]
No.2 [Golden Rose]
No. 3 [Orange Island]
No.4 [Coffee Bronze]

I decided to go with No.4 Coffee Bronze coz I am extremely fair (so I've been told, even though I like to think I'm not), so I doubt any of the other colours will show up well. If I had my way, I would have gone with Golden Rose coz that colour combo is super nice, I love the gold with the pink. So if you're fair and have pink toned skin, you should really check our Golden Rose. My skin tone is quite yellow so I have to be careful not to choose anything that would make me look sallow. So Humming Coral and Orange Island was a big no-no for me, as orange always makes me look jaundiced. If you are sun kissed however, you should check out Humming Coral or Orange Island though, it would look really fresh and pretty. Since all the colour options are shimmery, they would look quite good on tan skin as well, just have to choose the right colour for your skin tone.

The Laneige Two Tone Shadow Bar comes with 2 colours in 1 stick. For Coffee Bronze, the darker colour is a medium bronze, which is a medium brown; the lighter colour which works as a highlighter is a light champagne gold (so it's not your yellow gold). Both colours have shimmer, which is good as it brightens the eyes up tonnes. The perfect pick me up your eyes need if you're tired and your eyes are showing exhaustion.

In my head I imagined that the lazy me could swipe across my eyelid and have the darker colour above my lashes and the highlighter on my brow bone. But of course that was not the case, coz well... no ones eyelids are that flat or narrow. So I switch tactics. I have to talk about the shape. At first glance I was a bit doubtful to be honest, but it turned out to be easy enough to use and the angle makes it easy to switch between the colours. I angle the shadow bar to apply the darker colour first. I go across my eyelids up to the crease. Then I swap sides to the lighter colour and highlight the area above the crease and brow bone. Then I used my trusty fingers, and blended carefully. It is a cream consistency so instead of just smearing, you have to use a dabbing motion to blend. It took a bit of effort for me coz I'm used to using powder eyeshadow, and usually use at least 3 colours. But this is only 2 colours, so I was slightly curious about the possible "depth" 2 colours of eyeshadow could provide. Now because it's cream upon application, I left it on for a few minutes to dry before continuing with my usual eyeliner and mascara. This step is important, coz if skipped, you potentially risk eyeliner transferring to the eyelid when you open your eyes.
Crayon eyeliner + Cream eyeshadow = Transfer of eyeliner

The Laneige Two Tone Shadow Bar amazingly feels powdery after a couple of minutes. It does not feel sticky or creamy, and there was no creasing! Hooray!

The outcome is quite pleasant, and I've decided it would be my "go to" eyeshadow for days when I want to go with the slightly nude look or when I want to wear a dark red lip (this way the eyes and lips aren't competing and you won't risk looking like you just came off a broadway production).

I bought this online at Sephora coz I love online shopping and it was also convenient. It arrived within a week all nicely bubble wrapped. The Laneige Two Tone Shadow Bar costs SGD$38, a pretty good price for a compact nifty little pocket wonder. You can click HERE to get your Laneige craving satiated!
